ABOUT THE FINAL FIFTH

The Final Fifth was founded in 2024 as a collective of musicians and artists that are scattered around the globe, creating real music by real people in an era when that seems increasingly rare.  With no concessions for algorithms or commercial potential. With the realization that most releases disappear into the ether of Spotify never to be heard from again (after the initial 15 streams, and that’s counting your mum). With the understanding that the music industry, per se, no longer exists - and that music is no longer a commodity to be paid for, but is rather the icing on the cake of social media posts, YouTube likes, ad placements, and algorithm data manipulation.  You no longer make music in hopes of selling music - you make music in hopes of selling advertisements. 
Cynical?
Absolutely.
So…why do we do it? 

Why does anybody do it?

 

We are four (sometimes five, and occasionally six) people, who have never met, who are living very different lives in very different places - and who all just want to entertain, provoke thought, and (occasionally) rock yer asses off.
